Srinagar link road carves for macadamization
Srinagar, Apr 30, KNT: A number of roads in Srinagar city are dilapidated in the absence of macadamization or repair.
Residents of different localities particularly Dairwani-Batamaloo, Mehjoor Nagar, Baba Demb, Raj Bagh, Karsoo, Sonwar, Palapora areas have such complaints.
A number of people alleged that SMC is showing no interest in repairing the link roads. They said that concerned authorities should stop ignoring or taking lightly the demands of people for macadamization or repairing of roads.
They said interior roads everywhere are in shambles while no one is coming to the rescue of the affected people. “There should be an end to such official callousness.”
“We had approached to Roads and Buildings Department (R&B). We were told that the macadamization of such roads has to be done by Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) as all the link roads and most of roads in Srinagar city are under its jurisdiction now,” people said.
People alleged that SMC is selective in approach. “It is taking care of particular areas, ignoring the plight of other localities,” they said and made an appeal to SMC Commissioner to start the macadamization process without any delay. [KNT]
