By-election to Suar & Chhanbey Assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh begins
By-election to Suar and Chhanbey Assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh begin this morning. Polling started at 7:00 a.m., and will continue till 6:00 p.m. On both the seats, the ruling coalition’s partner Apna Dal (Sonelal) is contesting.

Suar assembly seat in Rampur district was declared vacant on February the 13th after a Moradabad court sentenced Abdullah Azam Khan, the son of senior SP leader Azam Khan, to two years in jail in a 15-year-old case.
Suar seat is witnessing a direct contest between the ruling coalition and the Opposition Samajwadi Party. The SP has fielded Anuradha Chauhan from this seat while Shafeek Ahmed Ansari is contesting on the ticket of Apna Dal (Sonelal), an ally of the ruling BJP.
Chhanbey Assembly seat in Mirzapur fell vacant after the death of Apna Dal (Sonelal) MLA Rahul Prakash Kol in February this year. Apna Dal (Sonelal) has fielded his wife Rinki Kol, whereas Kirti Kol is contesting as a Samajwadi Party candidate. A total of eight candidates are fighting for the seat. Meanwhile, Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party has decided to sit out of the by-elections.
