Government says country will be able to attain installed nuclear power capacity of 22,480 Mega Watt by 2031-32

The Government has said that the country will be able to attain installed nuclear power capacity of 22,480 Mega Watt by 2031-32 from the present capacity of 7480 MW.

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. Jitendra Singh informed that the Government has initiated steps to increase nuclear power capacity in the state of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh. He further added that expansion of nuclear power capacity will help in the country’s energy transition for meeting the goal of a net zero economy by 2070.
