3-day International Gita Mahotsav set to commence at Nelum Pokuna Theatre premises in Colombo

The three-day International Gita Mahotsav is set to commence from today at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre premises in Colombo. The Mahotsav is being organized with the financial sponsorship of Haryana’s Kurukshetra Development Board.

In recent years the festival has been held in overseas countries. Thousands of delegates from across the world are expected to attend the event. The festival will feature Gita yagna, Gita chanting, shobha yatra, seminars on several topics of contemporary interest, and several competitions.

On the 4th of March, a copy of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita will be presented to the Parliament of Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka’s Minister of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Vidura Wickremanayake said that the International Gita Mahotsav is being held in Colombo. The minister said that the purpose of the event is to popularise the timeless teachings of the Shrimad Bhagwad Gita.
