Surprise Inspection: ADC finds only 17 out of 198 employees present at Shopian Hospital, DAK terms report ‘flawed’
KNT: A surprise inspection at Shopian District Hospital in South Kashmir revealed that over 91% of employees, including doctors and paramedical staff, were absent from their duties. The inspection, led by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Shopian, found only 17 employees present out of a total of 198. This staggering absenteeism rate has prompted the District Administration to deduct one day’s salary from the 181 absent employees.
According to ADC Shopian, the unauthorized absences were recorded using biometric attendance data provided by the Medical Superintendent. The administration had previously issued a circular stating that unauthorized absences would result in a one-day salary deduction, with the funds credited to the District Red Cross Society Shopian.
The absent employees have been given three days to explain their absence.
However, the Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) has criticized the district administration’s report, calling it “deeply flawed” ¹. DAK argued that hospital functioning differs significantly from other government departments, with staff rotations and shift schedules affecting attendance.
