KPDCL urges domestic consumers to adopt solar rooftop scheme
Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has begun sending text messages to domestic consumers, encouraging them to install solar rooftop plants under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. This initiative, launched by the Union Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, promotes grid-connected rooftop solar PV projects.
Eligible consumers, including domestic and Rate Code 1 users with monthly bills exceeding Rs.2,000, are being urged to install solar rooftops to reduce their electricity bills. They will also receive a Central Subsidy of Rs.85,800 and a UT share of Rs.9,000 for plants up to 3 kWp.
Out of 24,558 metered consumers with registered mobile numbers, 24,538 have received text messages, with repeat messages planned to ensure widespread awareness. [KNT]
