Frost Over Formalities: Omar Abdullah Freezes Jammu Events, Thaws Kashmir’s Winter Crisis

J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah decided to prioritize addressing the challenges posed by the harsh winter in the Kashmir Valley. Abdullah announced that he was canceling all his upcoming engagements in Jammu to station himself in Srinagar for the next week as the intense cold wave has gripped Kashmir valley.
According to the Associated News Bureau, in a post on the social media platform X, he emphasized the importance of personally overseeing the functioning of essential services, particularly the power and water supply departments, amid the ongoing severe cold spell.
Abdullah acknowledged the inconvenience caused to event organizers in Jammu where he was scheduled to visit, but stressed the urgency of the current situation.
He expressed regret for the cancellations and assured that he would compensate for the disrupted programs in the future.
Returning from Jaisalmer, the chief minister confirmed he will be back in Srinagar by Monday morning to monitor and manage the winter-related difficulties faced by residents. (ANB)
