Historic Step Toward Social Justice: Amit Shah Lauds Inclusion of Caste Census in Upcoming Population Survey

Modi Government’s landmark move aims to empower backward communities and foster inclusive development

New Delhi, ANB: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah has praised the decision by the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA), chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, to include a caste census in the forthcoming national population survey. Describing it as a “historic decision,” Shah said the move reaffirms the Modi Government’s unwavering commitment to social justice.
In a post on the social media platform X, Shah stated that the CCPA’s decision corrects a long-standing historical omission by incorporating caste enumeration into the national census. He emphasized that this step sends a powerful message about the government’s dedication to social equity and ensuring rights for every segment of society.
Shah also criticized previous governments led by Congress and its allies, accusing them of resisting caste enumeration while in power and adopting it merely as a political strategy when in opposition. He asserted that this bold decision by the Modi Government will empower economically and socially disadvantaged groups, promote inclusion, and open new avenues for the upliftment of marginalized communities .
