NIT Srinagar Registers First-Ever Alumni Association in Historic Move

Srinagar, : ANB :For the first time since its establishment in 1960, the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar has officially registered its Alumni Association, marking a milestone in the institute’s six-decade journey. According to the News agency Associated News Bureau ANB that The long-awaited step was spearheaded by Prof. M.A. Shah, Dr. H.S. Pali, Dr. Dinesh, Mr. Mohammad Rafiq, and a committed team of alumni including Er. Aamir Ali. This move formalizes alumni engagement and aims to build stronger, more collaborative ties between former students and the Institute.

Director of NIT Srinagar, Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, hailed the development as a landmark moment. “It reflects our commitment to building lasting connections with our alumni, who are an integral part of our legacy and growth,” he said, noting the global impact of NIT Srinagar’s alumni over the years. Registrar Atikur Rahman called the registration a “significant achievement” that will provide a structured platform for engaging alumni in the institute’s development.

Prof. M.A. Shah, Dean Alumni & International Affairs, emphasized the association’s mission to foster unity, shared purpose, and mentorship. “Our alumni are crucial in preparing students to meet future challenges, both through guidance and through creating professional opportunities,” he said. He further underlined the alumni’s role in nation-building and philanthropic support for academic and institutional initiatives.

The newly formed Alumni Association of NIT Srinagar (AANITS) has appointed Prof. Mohammad Shafi Mir as President and Er. Aamir Ali Mir, Director of Disaster Management J&K, as Vice-President. Other key office-bearers include Er. Ali Mohammad Rather, Er. Syed Javed Bukhari, Dr. Mohammad Mursaleen, Prof. Manzoor Ahmad Ahanger, and Dr. Shahid Saleem. The institute also announced plans to establish regional and international alumni chapters, aiming to strengthen community spirit and professional networking among its global alumni base. ANB.
