Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra Suspended for Third Consecutive Day Due to Inclement Weather
Jammu, KNT: The annual pilgrimage to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine remained suspended for the third consecutive day on Tuesday as persistent adverse weather conditions continued to affect the Trikuta Hills, prompting authorities to prioritise the safety of devotees.
Officials said the pilgrimage has been temporarily halted as a precautionary measure following continuous heavy rainfall, which has increased the risk of landslides, shooting stones and slippery conditions along the pilgrimage track.
The suspension comes amid widespread rainfall across the Jammu region, where several districts have witnessed flash floods, landslides and road disruptions over the past few days.
Authorities are closely monitoring the weather situation and the condition of the yatra track. The pilgrimage will resume only after the route is declared safe for pilgrims.
Devotees have been advised to stay updated through official announcements issued by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and the district administration before planning their journey.
The administration has reiterated that the decision to suspend the yatra has been taken solely in the interest of public safety, considering the prevailing weather conditions. [KNT]
