Surge in Local Streams Inundates Low-Lying Areas in Uri’s Lachi Pura
Baramulla, KNT: Flash floods inundated parts of Lachi Pura village in the Boniyar area of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday after an intense thunderstorm triggered a sudden rise in the water level of local streams.
The overflowing water entered low-lying areas, disrupting normal life and causing panic among residents. Although no loss of life or injuries were reported, the flooding affected movement in the area and prompted residents to shift to safer locations.
Officials said the situation is being closely monitored as intermittent rainfall continues in the region.
Authorities advised residents to stay away from nallahs, streams and other flood-prone areas, warning that heavy rainfall could lead to a sudden increase in water levels and pose risks to life and property. [KNT]
