Brrier-Free Tolling System Pilot Testing Begins At Phanda Toll Plaza On Bhopal-Dewas Road

Pilot testing of a barrier-free tolling system has started at the Phanda toll plaza on the Bhopal-Dewas road in Madhya Pradesh. This is the first such system in the state.

Under this system, vehicles will not need to stop at the toll plaza. Vehicles will be identified automatically through FASTag and cameras and the toll amount will also be collected automatically.
Vehicles will be able to pass through the toll plaza at around 100 kilometres per hour. This will save time and fuel and reduce unnecessary braking. Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh said the results of the pilot project will be evaluated.
The system will then be considered for other toll plazas in the state. If there is not enough balance in the FASTag or there is a technical problem, an e-challan will be issued. The toll amount will have to be paid within three days. Otherwise, a penalty will be charged as per the rules.
