Asian Boxing Championships: Indian boxers Kapil Pokhariya, Savita lose in pre-quarters

Indian boxers Kapil Pokhariya and Savita have lost their respective bouts in the round of 16 of Asian Boxing Championships at Amman in Jordan. Kapil lost to Iran’s Pouria Amiri in 86 kg category 0-5.

Savita lost her 50 kg fight to Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist Tsukimi Namiki of Japan in the pre-quarterfinals. The Japanese boxer scored perfectly in all three rounds to seal a victory by unanimous decision.

Five Indian men boxers including five-time Asian medalist Shiva Thapa in 63.5kg category will be in action today.

The other 4 boxers who will take the ring are Ananta Chopade in 54kg, Etash Khan in 60kg, Amit Kumar in 67kg and Sachin in 71kg category. All of them will be playing in the pre-quarterfinal bouts.
