PDP warns against Saffronisation of administration

Kishtwar, Aug 25: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (JKPDP) Tuesday warned against Saffronisation of administration across Doda Kishtwar of Jammu region further pushing minorities, especially Muslims, to walls and adding to the political, social and economic morass in the erstwhile state.

A meeting of district executive members of the party was held under the chairmanship of former legislator and senior PDP leader Firdous Tak to deliberate upon the prevailing situation across the state in general and Chenab Valley in particular. The meeting extended gratitude to the party high command for standing firm to uphold the dignity and honour of the general masses and refusing to budge despite several pulls and pressures from all the corners.

While deliberating further the meeting condemned detention of party former legislator Firdous Tak and district president Sheikh Nasir Hussain earlier this month by the administration to please their bosses in Jammu and New Delhi. “The meeting warned administration to desist from such misadventures to curb the genuine and legitimate voices and resolves to carry forward its mission to represent the aspirations of masses”, the statement after the meeting reads.

The meeting among others was attended by District President Sheikh Nasir Hussain, Secretary Ishtiyaq Hussain Waza, Arshad Hussain Giri, District President Youth Wasil Doolwal, Abdul Kabir Naik, Haji Abdul Rasheed Dhobi, Jaffar Hussain Babzada, Sajad Ahmed Dev, Ghualm Rasool Najar, Irshad Ahmed Dev, Habibullah Dhobi, Ghulam Mohammad Mir, Gulshan Mir, Mushtaq Ahmed Dhobi, Javaid Ahmed Sheikh, Mohammad Munawar Khawaja, Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, Haji Mohammad Iqbal, Farooq Ahmed Sheikh, Mohammad Ramzan Waza, Abdul Wahid Waza, Akhtar Hussain, Zubair Ahmed, Mehraj ud Din Zargar, Bitta Khanday, Mohammad Mansoor, Akhtar Hussain Khanday, Haji Ghulam Hassan, Mehraj ud Din Sheikh, Majeed Dar, Mohammad Iqbal Ganai, Mohammad Saleem Sheikh, Ghulam Ali, Mohammad Ismail, Nazir Ahmed, Sajad Ahmed, Shabir Ahmed Sheikh, Abdul Qayoom, Abdul Majeed, Ghulam Rasool, Mohammad Maqbool Bagwan, Bashir Ahmed Khan, Mudassir Hussain, Jan Mohammad, Ghulam Qadir, Mushtaq Ahmed, Sajad Ahmed Ganai, Firdous Tapal, Ghulam Ahmed Bagwan, Ghulam Rasool Bagwan, Abdul Kabir Butt and Abdul Rashid Butt.

Addressing the meeting, Firdous Tak said that while people were being denied their basic rights, some people were busy in saffronisation of administration across the Chenab Valley. “Some officials in the administrations are discharging their obligation more as Sanghies than public servants further alienating people across the mountainous region”, he said adding that from government offices people, especially Muslims and Schedule Casts, are being asked to get recommendations from BJP office in order to move their files.

“This Bhagwakaran of the administration will only prove counterproductive and senior officials across Chenab Valley must take immediate note of the disparity”, he said adding that PDP cadre will not be mute spectators to this grave injustice and well hatched plan and instead will fight all such forces who are here to weaken minorities politically and administratively.

He said that it was unfortunate that while Union Government has lifted all ban on the movement on all roads within and outside the state an important highway, Kishtwar-Sinthan-Khanbal, was kept closed by the administration on the instruction of Sangh Parivar. “This road has always been an eyesore for some people and today despite the fact that huge amount was being spent on the black-topping of this road the local administration has kept the highway closed”, he said adding, “The road is the only link between the district headquarters and more than twenty-thousand population of Marwah-Warwan sub division. Besides this hundreds of people opting Kashmir hospitals for medical emergencies are facing severe problems due to continuous closure of the road”.
