UIDAI Enables Free Email Updates In Aadhaar Directly Through Aadhaar App

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has enabled free email updates in Aadhaar directly through the Aadhaar App. This move is effective from the 1st of July for a period of six months. The Ministry of Electronics and IT informed that within two days of the new service being available on the Aadhaar App, over 2.5 lakh people have updated their email address.

The Ministry said that linking an email with Aadhaar helps in receiving real-time email notifications whenever an Aadhaar authentication request is executed. It added that this initiative enhances transparency and provides an additional layer of security by enabling Aadhaar number holders to stay informed about the use of their Aadhaar for any purpose.
So far, over four million people have updated their mobile numbers using the new Aadhaar App. At the same time, around one million people have used the App for updating their address.
