Rising Tawi Water Level Prompts Police Advisory in Jammu

Jammu,  KNT: Amid continuous rainfall across the Jammu region, the water level in the Tawi River has risen considerably, prompting Jammu and Kashmir Police to issue a public advisory urging people to stay away from the riverbanks.

Police teams have been deployed in vulnerable areas along the river to make public announcements, cautioning residents and visitors against venturing close to the river or attempting to cross flooded stretches.

The advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure to prevent accidents and ensure public safety in view of the rising water level and the possibility of a further increase if heavy rainfall continues.

Police have appealed to the public to strictly follow official advisories, avoid unnecessary movement near the river and keep children away from the riverbanks.

Authorities have also urged residents living in low-lying areas to remain vigilant and immediately report any emergency to the concerned departments.

The warning comes as several districts of Jammu and Kashmir continue to experience heavy rainfall, resulting in overflowing rivers and nallahs, flash floods, landslides and disruption to road connectivity at multiple locations.

Police said the awareness campaign and monitoring of vulnerable areas will continue until the weather situation improves. [KNT]
