Lawyers stage protest in Jmu
A battery of lawyers under the banner of Bar Association of Jammu (BAJ) on Wednesday protested to highlight their demands.
The members of the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, took out a protest rally from the Court Complex and assembled at Maharaja Hari Singh Statute at River Tawi Bridge.
Led by BAJ Presidentship Senior Advocate, MK Bhardwaj, the lawyers, amidst slogan shouting, abstained from work in all the Courts including the High Court of J&K, Commissions and Tribunal etc.
Bhardwaj said that the lawyers are demanding construction of a multi storey building for housing Registration work, CAT, DRT and Tribunal within Court premises, establishment of Consumer Forums in the Court premises, establishment of Consumer Commission and Human Rights Commission.
Bhardwaj appealed to all the members of the Legal Fraternity of the Union Territory of J&K and Civil society to get united for any struggle in future, in case the demands are not fulfilled by the administration.
He urged upon the Government to resolve all the demands of the legal fraternity and demands of the general public, so as to give relief to the legal fraternity as well as civil society immediately. The office bearers of BAJ namely Mohinder Pal Singh Pali, Vice President, Surjeet Singh Andotra, General Secretary, Aditya Sharma, Joint Secretary, Amandeep Singh, Treasurer, Rohit Sharma, Young Lawyers Association, President, Gagandeep Singh (Lucky) and others participated in the protest march.
