Handwara Army organised three days Maj Anuj Sood Volleyball tournament cum Food festival
To promote the sports culture in the Valley and identify the local talents, Night Volleyball tournament cum food festival is being organised by Handwara army in collaboration with Boys Higher secondary School (BHSS), Handwara from 12 – 14 Nov 21. A total of 16 teams ( 04 x pools) from Handwara, Vilgam , Magam and Upper Rajwar areas will play against each other over a period of three days.
The Inaugural matches started with opening ceremony by chief guest Mr. Suleiman Mir , DDC Rajwar , Mr. Rafiq Ah , principle Govt Boys higher secondary School and other civil dignitaries. A total of 06 matches were played today.
The inaugural matches were played between Lone Volleyball Club Vs Boban Club in which Boban won and Chowgul Volleyball Club Vs Turkpura Volleyball Club in which chowgul won the match. In Pool C Quaterfinal match was played between Chowgul club and Dudipura in which Dudipura won the match with brilliant performance. In Pool A Quarterfinal match was played between Handwara locals and Boban Club in which Handwara locals won the match and enters the Semifinal which will be played on 14th Nov.
In addition, a food festival was also organised with combination of street food, fast food & Kashmiri delicacy. The viewers of Volleyball matches enjoyed the music performance by local artists along with food festival. The unique initiative by army & local authorities earned accolades from media & local populace.
