Ukraine says Russian missile struck near nuclear power plant
Ukraine has claimed that a Russian missile struck near a nuclear power plant in southern part of the country. Ukraine’s nuclear energy operator, Energoatom, in a statement said, the missile landed 300 metres from the Pivdennoukrainsk Nuclear Power Plant, however, did not damage its reactors.
In response to the missile strike, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that it endangers the whole world and there is an immediate need to stop this before it’s too late.
According to media reports, the Pivdennoukrainsk plant is Ukraine’s second-largest nuclear power plant. The largest, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, has been shut down since early September following shelling that Russia and Ukraine have blamed on each other.
On other hand, Russia yesterday rejected Ukraine’s accusations that Russian soldiers had committed war crimes in the Kharkiv region.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that it is a lie claim and we will defend the truth in this story.
