Cops facilitated SI scam, escorted aspirants to Chandigarh, Haryana as driver spill beans
As the CBI spearheaded its investigation in the infamous JKPSI recruitment scam skeletons started tumbling out of the cupboard.
Official sources said that two travel agency owners whose vehicles were used to take the aspirants to Chandigarh have been released by the CBI after their statement.
They, however, said that the driver of the Bolero car had spilled beans and informed the investigation agency that four persons who introduced him as cops in Jammu and Kashmir Police took him to Chandigarh.
He further told the investigating agency that after spending a few hours in Chandigarh, they took the vehicles towards Haryana for a night stay. He told that cops asked him to keep the vehicle ahead of the Tempo Travels. Based on his statements CBI sleuths took him to the Chandigarh and Haryana, later Rishikesh in order to follow the trail for evidence.
They further said that while the Bolero car’s driver was taken to Punjab, two other drivers of the Tempo Travels were being questioned separately in the CBI’s Jammu based office.
Sources said that the owners of the travel agencies handed over all the records including booking and toll slips to CBI. They told CBI that the cops even paid Rs 3000 less to the fixed rate of Rs 27000. They told that one person who introduced himself as ASI asked them to take the rest of the amount ( Rs 3000) from him as for the purpose he was waiting for them in Police Station Kanachack.
The CBI lifted owners of the travel agencies on Saturday after it came to know that some aspirants were taken to Punjab. Following the inputs, CBI lifted two owners of the travel agency for questioning who informed police that two Tempo Travels and a Bolero car were hired at the behest of the DySP. Sharing details, official sources said that the owners of the travel agencies told investigating agency that they were told that DySP’s family was going for an outing and required vehicles for the purpose. Based on their statements, CBI had asked them to produce the drivers of the vehicles for further questioning.
Pertinently, fourteen officers including retired and serving are in the CBI net in J&K.
These officers include Khalid Jahangir, former Chairman and Ashok Kumar, controller JKSSB, K.D Bhagat, DySP DAR Jammu, Vijay Kumar, PRO to ex Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, Raman Sharma, constable JKAP, Kewal Krishan alias Vicky, constable JKAP, Sunil Pangotra, constable posted at District Police Line, Jammu, Amit Sharma, Pawan Kumar and Sunil Sharma, all are CRPF personnel, Jagdish Kumar, Suresh Kumar, Rakesh Kumar and Throu Ram, all are residents of Akhnoor.
The CBI had conducted raids at their residences and seized their bank related documents, property details, Laptop, Mobile Phones and other related records for scrutiny.
CBI had registered a case on 03.08.2022 on the request of J&K Government against 33 accused including then Medical Officer, BSF Frontier Hqrs, Paloura; then Member, JKSSB; then Under Secretary, then Section Officer (both of JKSSB); Ex-official of CRPF; ASI of J&K Police; Owner of a coaching centre, Akhnoor; private company based at Bengaluru; a gang from Haryana, private persons and unknown others on the allegations of irregularities in written examination for the posts of sub-inspectors in the J&K Police conducted by J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB) on 27.03.2022. The results were declared on 04.06.2022. There were allegations regarding malpractices in the examination. The J&K Govt later handed over the case to CBI for investigation.
