Union Health Minister to hold a meeting with Indian Medical Association on COVID-19 situation
Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya will hold a meeting with the Indian Medical Association today on the COVID-19 situation. The meeting will be held through video conferencing.
A few days back, Dr. Mandaviya also had a meeting with the States Health Ministers in view of the recent rise in Covid cases globally. During the meeting, he advised the States to be on alert and be prepared for COVID-19 management.
He asked them to strengthen the surveillance system for whole genome sequencing of positive case samples to track the variants. This will ensure the timely detection of newer variants, if any, circulating in the country.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also chaired a high-level meeting and cautioned against complacency and advised strict vigil. In view of the upcoming festive season, he had urged everyone to follow Covid appropriate behaviour, including wearing masks.
