In a 1st, J-K& L NCC’s rank scale up to fourth position
In a first, Jammu –Kashmir and Ladakh (J-K&L) National Cadet Corps (NCC) Directorate scaled up its rank to the prestigious fourth position in the country.
The Maharashtra NCC Directorate won the prestigious competition with highest 867.90 points out of 1135 at Prime Minister Banner recently held at the Republic Day Camp (RDC) 2023.
However, Jammu –Kashmir and Ladakh improved its past performance and scaled to fourth slot for the first time in the history, from previous year’s 10th rank.
Jammu and Kashmir secured 807.57 points in the competition while its score was just 448.49 in 2022.
“Cadets from 17 NCC directorates from various states participated in the month-long RDC Camp where various competitions were held among the cadets,” officials said.
“In the month-long camp, the cadets did their best in various competitions like drill, Kartavya Path marching, Guard of Honor to PM, PM’s Rally Line Layout, Flag Area briefing and Cultural Event.
The consistent excellent performance of the contingent throughout the Camp in all events saw the NCC directorate of Maharashtra being adjudged the Best Directorate. Tamilnadu, Puducherry, Andaman & Nicobar directorate with total 827.25 points adjudged as second and Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh & UT of Chandigarh directorate with 811.30 points clinched the third rank in the country.
The Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh directorate clinched the fourth slot, which is first top for newly created union territories.
In the year 2021, J-K&L Directorate ranked 11 with 255 points, in 2020 and 2019 Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh ranked 14 while in 2018 J-K&L Directorate finished at eleven.
