Six vehicles seized in Tangmarg over alleged tourist harassment, overcharging

Baramulla,  KNT: Police on Wednesday seized six commercial passenger vehicles in Tangmarg during a special enforcement drive following complaints of harassment and overcharging of tourists and visitors.

Police said the vehicles, including Sumos and autos, were found violating provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and were seized under the relevant legal provisions.

The enforcement action was conducted in the Tangmarg area amid complaints concerning overcharging and alleged harassment of tourists and other visitors using commercial passenger transport.

Police said the action was aimed at ensuring safe and hassle-free movement of tourists and preventing practices that could adversely affect the tourism environment.

Authorities warned that enforcement against overcharging and other violations would continue and that action would be taken against vehicles found violating the law. [KNT]
