RIFK is releasing a documentary on Revered Saint Swami Chaman Lal Bamzai On his 7th Nirvana divas.

Sh. Chaman Lal Bamzai (popularly known as Bamzai Sahab) is a revered contemporary saint who has bestowed much needed spiritual guidance and grace to distressed Kashmiri Pandit community post migration. The Lale Da-Bagh Ashram in Jammu is the outcome of his vision and devotion towards his Guru the great saint Swami Nand Bub ji of Nunar Kashmir. Sh. Bamzai is the patron of the ashram.

Sh. Bamzai was born in a very spiritual family in Sheilteng – Habba Kadal, Srinagar, Kashmir in 1948. He did his schooling from Raghunath Mandir School, Kanya Kadal, Srinagar.

His Father and Grand Father were Shiva Devotees, so there was a spiritual atmosphere in the family. From early childhood itself, he showed signs of spiritual inclination and was different from other kids of his age. He used to play with himself by making Shiv Lingas from clay. He used to regularly accompany elders to Shiv temples and Kheer bawani for which he had special affinity.

The first meeting of Sh. Bamzai with Guru to-be Swami Nand Bub ji was very unusual. One day when young Bamzai Sahab was in school, Nand Bub ji suddenly came into his class, picked up just his bag of all the students and left. Bamzai Sahab came running to his mother and narrated the whole incident. His mother went to Nand Bub ji and requested to return the bag. Nand Bub ji while returning the bag smilingly told her, what this boy is born to do and achieve in life, needs some other education

There was a tenant in the house of Sh. Bamzai named Triloki Nath Parimoo. His wife Mohnuri was a devotee of Bub ji and it is through her that Bamzai Sahab met Bub ji again. He had completed his education and was tense about the job. Bub ji read his mind and told him that you yourself are Narayan incarnation, you are destined to get much more than just a Govt job. Very soon Sh. Bamzai got a job in MES. He entered Grihasta ashram at the age of 31 and has 2 daughters who are married now.

In another incident Sh. Bamzai went to meet Bub ji at Sh. Kashi Nath’s residence in Karan Nagar. The thought of who would be his spiritual Guru was bothering Bamzai Sahab too much. But, as usual, before asking Bub ji, Bub ji himself answered him in his quintessential style – Tanki pura wali ke hawale, which meant that he should worship the Goddess Ragnya. Thus, started his tapasya and he devoted his life in the veneration and devotion of Mata Kheer bawani. His tapasya lasted for 30 years during which he achieved Siddhi also. He lit Akhand Jyot for 12 years. Bub ji was his spiritual Guru all throughout his journey. One day Bub ji suddenly called Sh. Bamzai and in front of other devotees there, pointing towards the temple told him, Yeh bargah aapko hi sambalni hai. Sh. Bamzai talks very less and is always immersed in meditation. He set up the Lale-da- Bagh ashram in devotion to his great Guru Swami Nand Bub ji so that the grace of Bub ji can continue to flow to community members and humanity in general.
