Eight MOs serve GMC-A unauthorizedly, inquiry on

Despite their tenure ending, 8 Medical Officers posted at Government Medical College Anantnag remained in service for more than a year.

In 2019, 8 Medical Officers were appointed at GMC Anantnag for three years. The Medical Officers should have completed the posting in 2022; however, they were not relieved.

Reports suggest gross violations were conducted at Government Medical College Anantnag. Now the matter has been taken up by the Health and Medical Education Department, which has relieved the Medical Officers and has sought an answer from Principal GMC Anantnag.

“It is hereby ordered that the following Medical Officers, presently continuing unauthorizedly on the tenure postings viz. Senior Residents/ Registrars etc. beyond the prescribed period of three years in gross violation of policy/guidelines of the department shall be deemed to have been relieved with immediate effect from the Government Medical College, Anantnag and are directed to report in the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir for further duties”, reads the order issued by Health and Medical Education Department.

It is further ordered that the Principal, Government Medical College, Anantnag, shall explain as to why he has allowed the aforesaid concerned Medical Officers to continue unauthorizedly beyond the authorized term. Besides, he is advised to fill up the vacant positions of Senior Residents on priority as per norms, the order reads.

“All the Principals of Government Medical Colleges, Jammu, Srinagar, Anantnag, Baramulla, Kathua, Doda, Rajouri shall immediately relieve all such doctors, who have completed stipulated period of 03 years of their tenure postings viz. Registrarship/ Demonstratorship/Sr, Residency/Tutor etc, as of 01.01.2023, with the directions to report to concerned Directorates of Health Services, Jammu/ Kashmir for further duties”, the order reads.

Director, Health Services, Kashmir shall submit a posting proposal in respect of the aforesaid doctors for utilizing their services in the peripheral areas, it reads.
